The path to the Santuario of the Madonna di Canneto through Picinisco has been a camino of faith for probably 1500 years.

It brings together pilgrims from all over central Italy as well as many parts of the world, especially from Windsor, Ontario, which is home to the famous Ciociaro Club and the Shrine to the Madonna. The important Feast days are 1 May and from 18 to 22 August each year.

This is one of the sign posts which will be erected along the pathway from the Montana at Picinisco to Grotta Campanaro and then over the hill to the Valle di Canneto and the Santuario. The importance of this beautiful shrine was recognised by the Vatican last year when it was officially elevated to be "Basilica Pontificia Minore di Maria Santissima di Canneto".
